María Jesús Valenzuela Vittini (Santiago, Chile 1986).
Bachelor of Fine Arts, Sculpture mention, from the University of Chile (2005-2010). She started her career in the area of photography with studies at Pontificia Universidad Católica (2003) and at the ICP International Center of Photography in New York (2004). The following years she participated in video art exhibitions, performance and in different projects that combine the audiovisual world with intangible oral heritage in Chile and Spain. She has studied Visual Anthropology at the University of Barcelona, Spain (2013). She received her Master’s in Documentary Creation at the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain (2016). Awarded the Corfo Grant for the production of the Script and Development of the “Interna” Documentary Film (2016), Santiago, Chile.
After seven years of residence in Spain, she held her first individual textile exhibition in Chile, “Hilar El Trazo”, at Galería República in 2017. In 2018 she participated in “Colectiva Jóvenes Artistas” at Galería Arte Espacio and exhibited at Galería Nac, “Incisiones”, her second solo show. The next few years until now, she has been selected in different competitions and collective shows with her work embroidered on paper.
The following years to date, her work consists of a permanent study of drawing and tracing in space, that dialogues with the different languages of dance, performance, video art, photography and embroidery on paper. She currently lives and works in Santiago de Chile.

Licenciada en Artes Plásticas, mención Escultura, de la Universidad de Chile (2005-2010). Se vincula a la fotografía con estudios en la Pontificia Universidad Católica (2003) y el ICP International Center of Photography New York (2004). Los años posteriores participa en exposiciones de video arte, performance y en distintos proyectos que combinan el mundo audiovisual con el patrimonio oral inmaterial en Chile y España. Estudia Antropología Visual en la Universidad de Barcelona (2013). Realiza el Master Documental de Creación en la Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona (2015). En 2016 es ganadora de Beca Corfo para la realización de Guión y Desarrollo de la Película Documental “Interna”.
Tras siete años de residencia en España, realiza en Chile su primera exposición individual en textil, “Hilar El Trazo”, en Galería República el año 2017. En 2018 participa en la Colectiva Jóvenes Artistas en Galería Arte Espacio y expone en Galería Nac “Incisiones”, su segunda muestra individual. Los próximos años hasta ahora, ha sido seleccionada en diferentes concursos y muestras con su trabajo bordado en papel.

2000-2017. Parallel to her audiovisual career, she has studied Flamenco dance, Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance in Chile and Spain. During 2011 and 2013 she studied in Seville, Spain, at the Manuel Betanzos Academy of Flamenco with the dancers: Adela Campallo, Andrés Peña, Pilar Ogalla, Juan Ogalla; at the José Galván School of Flamenco together with Pastora Galván and Israel Galván; with the teacher Juana Amaya and the Farruco Family. She studied Modern Dance with the Graham technique, in Barcelona.

Durante el año 2011 y 2013 estudia en Sevilla en la Academia de Flamenco Manuel Betanzos con los bailaores y bailaoras: Adela Campallo, Andrés Peña, Pilar Ogalla, Juan Ogalla; en la Escuela de Flamenco de José Galván junto a Pastora Galván e Israel Galván; con la maestra Juana Amaya y la Familia de los Farruco. Realiza estudios de Danza Moderna con la técnica Graham, en Barcelona.
